Frequently Asked Questions about LEDs
Q1. How much energy can you save?
Incandescent light bulbs (most sales of which are now being phased out in the EU) are highly inefficient. They use 60W on average, and waste about 85% of this energy as heat.
LEDs use up to 90% less power ( 5 or 6 Watts) for the same or more light output.
A LED bulb that has been running for several hours is still cool enough to hold in your hand !
These huge savings mean that if every household in the UK switched just 2 incandescent bulbs to LED bulbs, enough power could be saved to completely power the nation’s street lights.

Q2. How can Elumenation save you money?
Our LED light bulbs are hugely efficient, and are outstanding value for money. These bulbs will last up to 50,000 hours, whereas an incandescent will only last for approximatley 1,000 hours. Therefore, not only do you save on your lighting electricity bill, but you save on maintenance, trips to the shops and that valauable space in that drawer full of replacement bulbs which never seems to include the one you need.
Having saved your initial investment, you will continue to make savings every year of up to 90%, and could eventually save hundreds, if not thousands of pounds over the life of the bulbs.

Q3. Will Led bulbs fit my exsisting fittings
LED bulbs are now available in a variety of standard shapes and fitments. We supply you with the latest designs, which are no larger than their incandescent counterparts and are designed to fit into exsisting light fittings. There are even replacements for incandescent spotlights and dimmable versions, you can also choose the tone and colour of light your bulb gives out.
Q4. Do they take a long time to warm up?
LED bulbs are able to reach maximum brightness in just a fraction of a second. There is no light delay especially important in “quick in and out” domestic situations, such as landing, bathrooms etc.
Q5. What do i do with my old light bulbs?
We offer a free recycling service using Recolight. Recolight is a not for profit company that takes on its members' responsibilities to collect and recycle their lamps at end-of-life. We will happily take your old bulbs with us,if you require, after an installation and pass them on to Recolight, who dispose of them responsibly. They take them to specialist facilities where
they recover the materials, obtaining up to 95% of the lamp for other purposes.

Q6. Can I upgrade to Leds if I am renting a property?
If you currently living in rented accomodation and pay an electricity bill, you can still save money using Elumenation. When we install the new LEDs, you keep your old bulbs. Keep using the LEDs and reap the savings until it is time to move on, and when you do, simply refit the old incandescent bulbs, and take the LEDs and their savings to your next property.
Q7. Do I have a warranty on my bulbs?
All our ranges offer a warranty.
The Standard Saver range we supply carries a 2 year return to us warranty that excludes any installation or carriage.
The Premium Saver range carries a 3 year return to us warranty with an additional 2 year manufacturers warranty that requires registration of the batch number of the bulbs which we are pleased to do for you, again excludes any installation or carriage.
We are proud to offer a 14 day no quibble happiness guarantee.

Q8. Do LEDs work with dimmer switches?
The Standard Dimmable LED bulbs are only compatible with a dedicated “Trailing Edge” dimmer switch that reduces the current flow.
Standard Dimmable LED bulbs may not work effectively if used with the conventional “Leading Edge” dimmer switches that operate with a higher current flow.
The Premium Dimmable LED bulbs are compatable with most dimmer switches and are our recommendation for areas where you require smooth, controllable dimming.
MR16 low voltage bulbs may not work in some installations as the LED bulbs draw so little power that the transformer may not even recognise the bulbs are there.
In situations where electrical work may be required we recommend Woking Electrical Services on 01483 835384.
